We just had a wonderful weekend in Wuzhen, the town is also known as Venice of the East.. Wuzhen displays its two-thousand-year history in its ancient stone bridges floating on mild water. It was absolutely beautiful.
I got a chance to visit the Expo in shanghai, and it was surprisingly crowded. I did not take many pictures just a few to show. By the Norwegian pavilion there was no queue at the time we arrived (a bit late), and we skipped the most popular once but we managed to visit: Norway, Argentina, Ireland, Portugal, Peru, Columbia and the other’s we just enjoyed from the outside.
Since my house is a bit far from most of my coworkers, there have not been that many chances to hang out together in my part of town. But this weekend we finally had a dinner party at my place. We made a lot of food that day, like Pizza, Pasta salad, potato salad, onion rings, pancakes, chicken wings and Jayki made a wonderful cheese cake..
Today, the 17th of May is the Norwegian Constitution Day, the National Day of Norway and is an official national holiday each year. The constitution declared Norway to be an independent nation in may 17th 1814.
I would really like to be home in Norway today with family and friends; it is in fact 6 years ago since I celebrated “syttende mai” in Norway.
This weekend I went to the Norwegian embassy to celebrate with my friends and fellow Norwegians. There are about 200 Norwegians in Beijing at this moment. We had a parade, good food (Hot dogs, ice cream, Cakes.. etc.. ), good weather and some games outside in the embassy garden.
Below are some pictures from the lovely day..
We went for Lunch on the roof top of Bridge, and then headed for a pedicure. After that we took the bus to Xidan.. did some shopping.. We managed to buy some summer clothes, and more.. Heike bought a beautiful red wallet from Prada.. ha ha.. and a pair of Lives.. I got a summer dress and a couple of short pants and a Hat.
We spent 5 hours in KTV.. it is my record.. always fun to hang out with my co-workers.. pretty laid back in the sofa after some hours.. ha ha.. In Asia when you go karaoke, you rent a small room, that fits your group of people.. and in there you have everything you need. Big TV, microphones and even a tambourine.. ha ha.. and you can also order food and drinks.. it’s pretty cool. they usually have a big selection of songs, can even find “Fairytale” with Alexander Rybak.. ha ha..
